After stating my having students discuss fears I asked each tribe to rewrites paragraph of the famous Kipling poem "If...." As it is about overcoming fear, and here is the result,
If you can wake from all your fear
And in the morning feel the burning sun
The warmth shall see them disappear
Then look around you, you have won
If you where afraid of rats or mice
Or whatever creates your eclipse
Now we're not saying you'll find them
Just follow the sun on all your trips
----------
If you can lose someone you love
And keep your head up high
If you can stand way up above
And dare to touch the sky
If you can let a spider crawl
And ensure that you do not scream
Then you can stand u tall
And action your every dream
----------
If you can meet without judging those around you
And hold their hands as others do
If you can poo without blocking up the loo
If you can hold a sloth and monkey too
Then you will have a fab time in Peru
----------
If you can stay in the Amazon, daring Maleria
You'll get used to dodging the mozzies
We can all agree that it won't be much scarier
We'd rather by by the pool, chilling in our cozzies.
